All of my ebooks on Smashwords are 50% off this week for the Read an Ebook Week sale, including the two extant Therapist omnibuses, the Healers trilogy, and Strangers.

Given the theme of this sale, I thought I’d take a moment to talk about ebooks writ large (ha). It’s not a zero-sum game with paper books! Read whichever you like! But I would like to recognize the impact that ebooks have had on my reading habits.
- My TBR is not taking up what little space I have in my house. (As such, it tends to grow without limit. But that’s another issue.)
- I don’t have to prove anything to anyone with the number of books on my shelves. My reading habits are for me.
- Nobody bothers me about what I’m reading based on the cover.
- If I finish a book, I can start another whenever. Particularly helpful on the go.
- I’m more likely to take a chance on an author I’ve never heard of or a genre outside my usual, because I am not committed to be responsible for this physical object for the rest of my life.
- I can impulse buy a book any time I’m awake, anywhere I have internet access. This is dangerous and freeing.
- Ebooks are also available in libraries!
Since adopting ebooks as my standard format, I buy paper books for particular favorites, rather than for every book I read. Sometimes I will impulse-buy something on paper too – why not? And much of the time, if it doesn’t win a spot on the favorites shelf, I sell it to a used book store.
So read an ebook, this week and any week.
