About

S. E. Robertson / C.A. Moss self-publishes fiction about feelings and magic. When not writing, they have a desk job in the nonprofit sector, enjoy sappy music, read, play video games with a lot of dialogue, make more quilts than their house can hold, and get enthused about cooking and trying new restaurants.

They live in Pennsylvania with one spouse, two cats and a garden.

Series:
The Healers (formerly the Balance Academy): Cozy-ish, literary-ish, character-driven fantasy novels set in a down-to-earth, queernorm world that follows a magical healer and a nonmagical medic as they sort out their lives. Written as S.E. Robertson.

The Strangers: Just one book so far, slated for release in September 2025: Set in the same world as The Healers, this book/series focuses on two recent Academy graduates as they work to open an abandoned church in a small town and grapple with their own difficult pasts. Written as S.E. Robertson.

How I Became a Therapist in Another World: A light fantasy novella series about a queer millennial therapist who gets pulled into a fantasy world and ends up facilitating fights against literal mental health demons. Written as C.A. Moss.

Names: Just some trivia.

  • S.E. Robertson is about two inches away from my government name, chosen to sound “more like a fantasy author.” Ha.
  • C.A. Moss: C.A. comes from my username on Reddit and some other spots, which is in turn a reference to a They Might Be Giants song. “Moss” comes from Therapist 1, where Lavender has two nonbinary friends named Moss, nicknamed Tall Moss and Short Moss. I’m neither.
