A note on availability

I realized that I hadn’t updated this front page in a while on the topic of stores/availability. So here’s where we are in October 2025.

  • Each book’s page lists all of its purchase options. My approach is to have a lot of options, so that people can pick whatever works for them.
    • Different authors have different approaches, because their books and personal circumstances are different. I respect that.
  • I am back on itch.io and like it as a reader/buyer, but have not been emphasizing it much. That’s mostly because my sales there have been pretty low, and I don’t want to pour in a lot of effort without much to show for it. I don’t think the readership base there is interested in what I do. That’s fine.
    • Itch’s payouts have gotten faster for me since their nadir over the summer — again, with the caveat that I write SFW.
    • I plan to join some group sales on itch, maybe a couple a year, and donate my cut of the proceeds to a relevant cause. This is my own mental dodge to feel less bad about my low sales there. 😉
  • After a false start with a direct payment option that didn’t save my book info (???), I went with ko-fi as a direct option. I already use it for a tip jar, and it’s fairly straightforward. I’m not using it for anything fancy yet, but you can buy there, download the book(s), and be on your way.
  • All the other previous options are still there — Amazon but not Kindle Unlimited, Nook/B&N, Kobo, Apple, etc., as well as some library options.

The pricing for ebooks should be the same across all platforms (currently $4.99 for all novel-length books and $1.99 for the individual novellas). There are variations in the print book prices because of differing printing costs, but I’ve tried to split the difference and get the price points as close as I can.

I’ll try to get involved with a group sale of some kind every few months, and I always want to offer library options. Of course, those vary by location.

Overall, my philosophy is to offer a range of options and price fairly across all locations, while still trying to pay myself fairly for my work. I have the luxury of not living solely on my writing proceeds (hey, the rare context where a regular old day job can be “a luxury”), so maximum profit is not my #1 goal.

That’s the situation, which can and probably will evolve over time. Happy reading!
